Outdoor events can be great fun and the range of spaces the outside gives organisers a good scope with which to create any event.
We’ve put together a few tips and ideas for a successful event.
Preparation
Be prepared for all weather; this is England, it can just as easily be 30 degrees or tipping it down with rain, so make sure you prepare for everything. Having shelter is important not just in the rain but also to provide shade if you are lucky enough to get some sun.
Make sure you have secured any appropriate permits or permission to use the space and that you are aware of any restrictions regarding any times, access points or other elements.
Beyond the venue itself, outdoor event organisers will also benefit from learning as much as they can about its wider location. From knowing where the sun will hit during seated, staged events to investing in wind blockers for events in notoriously blusterous areas, you can fine-tune the conditions of your event and pre-empt any weather-related disruptions.
Themes
Any theme can work outdoors but there are a few that really compliment being in an open outside space. From vintage themes in an urban space to a funfair in a wood there are loads of ideas to think about.
To get a truly unique design try and think creatively; you don’t always have to use garden specific furniture for example, our chesterfield sofas, for example, look really elegant at a garden party themed event.
Here are a few of the more classic ideas when it comes to outdoor event themes to get you started;
Outdoor cinema
This can be just a big screening event, or a whole themed idea with drive in style seating and cinema food and beverages.
Street food/BBQ
Mirror your environment with your catering; there are loads of great street style food vendors that would bring an urban outdoor event to life, or a BBQ can be an easy way to feed a lot of guests.
Funfair
For a more colourful event you could go with a funfair styled event, this can be anything from candyfloss stalls and appropriate décor all the way to hiring some rides if you have a large event.
Festival
The festival theme is very popular design look at the moment; and can bring a lot of fun and colour to your event as well as being quite easy to implement.
Woodland
This sort of look is perfect for outdoor weddings, it is quaint and a good use of lighting and flowers can really set things off.
Tropical
Although the weather might not always reflect the theme, having a tropical look to your event can make guests feel relaxed. You can go for subtle hints with just tropical style food and drinks, or go all out by hiring palm trees or getting our amazing hammock hub in for guests to relax in style.
