How are your New Year’s Resolutions going? If you planned for 2020 to be your most environmentally responsible year yet, we’re with you!
With sustainability, recycling and mindful purchasing being part of so many people’s priorities, we thought now would be the perfect time to shine a light on some of our recycled pieces of furniture, all available to hire (of course).
Recycled range 1: Recycled Boat Wood furniture
Our Recycled Boat Wood range includes a chest of drawers, new style dressers and beautiful vintage chest coffee tables.
Each piece has been handcrafted from old fishing boats from the Indonesian Strait of Malacca, and each piece can even be traced back to its original boat.
Most of the boats were destroyed by tsunamis before the makers dismantled them, reclaimed the wood and created unique pieces of furniture.
They removed bolts, nails and screws, often leaving holes in the planks. Then the planks were kiln-dried for 15 days.
90% of the wood from each boat was used for our furniture. We’ve preserved the paint flecks, the cracks and holes, and all the other features that give them life.
With the wood having been exposed to the elements, the furniture is full of character. It’d be perfect for a rustic or shabby chic event.

Recycled range 2: Second Life furniture
Our Second Life benches and dining tables are also made from recycled wood.
Originally, the timber was in India and has been reclaimed from old buildings, ships, and demolition sites.
Next time you hire something from one of our recycled ranges, we’re sure your guests would love to hear about how their table was once a fishing boat navigating the Indonesian seas, or part of a beautiful old building in India!
